This interactive workshop uses mentor texts to spark young writers’ imaginations. We’ll start by reading a picture book, exploring its themes, connecting through movement, discussion, and imagination. Using the book as inspiration, participants will then create their own piece of writing.  With guidance and prompts, they’ll learn how stories can serve as powerful tools for self-expression. By the end, they’ll have a special creation to share or keep! Recommended for ages 5-9 years old!

Gabrielle Nidus, a writer and educator, brings over 25 years of teaching experience to this workshop, including her time as a reading specialist and Literacy Coordinator at St. John’s School in Houston. She is the author of several published books and has a deep passion for fostering creativity in young learners. A graduate of Brown University and Teachers College, Gabrielle uses her expertise in storytelling and writing to help children connect with their emotions and discover the power of self-expression.
